Hey There!

Welcome to Our World!

Flop House Creations Florida

Catherine Ione-Perkins and her husband Peter Perkins are educators and artists who started their home-based business, Flop House Creations, at their Northern California home, the Casa del Campo, in 2011.  Catherine holds an MFA in theatrical costume design, is a multiple Elly award-winning artist, and for the past 12 years has been specializing in creating one-of-a-kind women’s wearable art, home décor and accessories, emphasizing ancient and exotic fabric dyeing techniques, with a focus on upcycling, reimagining and repurposing vintage clothing and materials.  Peter studied geology and geophysics at the University of Vermont, holds a Master of Education, and has been a traditional coal-forge blacksmith for the past 8 years, receiving his training from Master Smiths at the Empire Mine State Historic Park in California.  Both Catherine and Peter work as historic interpretive docents at Cracker Country Living History Museum in Tampa, and currently reside in Odessa, Florida.

Prior to relocating to Florida at the end of 2022, Catherine and Peter were active local artists in their community, and traveled as far as Park City, Utah (a 1300-mile round trip) to participate in vendor events.  They have appeared at multiple-day juried arts and crafts shows, one day street shows, and retail shop pop-up shows.  Catherine specializes in custom, in-home hosted events.  A unique blend of skills and talents, Flop House Creations offers a range of gift and décor options, from hammered copper ornamental pieces and accessories to kitchen utensils and yard art to throw pillows, table runners and other textile décor work.  The headline products for the couple are the incredible clothing pieces designed and fabricated by Catherine, exquisite in conception, eclectic in execution, and incomparable in design and presentation.

Catherine and Peter are mature, amiable, experienced and interesting.  Their life experiences contribute to their art, their curiosity to try new designs and materials is limitless, and their adaptability, resourcefulness and reliability is enduring. Entering this next act of their senior lives in Florida, the couple looks forward to being active and effective participants and good team members with every organization that they have the opportunity to join.
